"My wife and I recently moved to Black Hawk, Colorado, and we were hoping to continue our long-standing relationship with State Farm by transferring our coverage to a local agent. We currently hold auto, home, and rental insurance with State Farm across four other states, so we assumed this would be a seamless process. Unfortunately, our experience with the State Farm office in Golden — the closest to our new home — was anything but helpful.

We reached out to this office with the intent to insure our new home. What followed was five days of repeated phone calls, slow and unclear communication, and an ongoing cycle of basic questions that gave us little confidence in the office’s ability to handle our needs. Despite our persistence, we received a vague and unhelpful email on the fifth day suggesting they could not insure the home — without any real explanation or offer to assist with our other policies.

What’s most frustrating is that the focus remained solely on the home, while no one ever asked about our three vehicles or our recreational vehicle — all of which we were also looking to insure through State Farm. It felt like no one took the time to understand who we are as long-term customers or the breadth of our insurance needs.

After this experience, we’re now looking elsewhere. It's disappointing to be treated like an inconvenience rather than a valued client, especially after years of loyalty to the company. State Farm may not want to insure our home, but the larger loss is the rest of our business."
